Bizarre Bazaar Corner

Dear Volunteers,

Happy 2017 to all of you! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, however you spent it, and are looking forward to a bright, shiny new beginning.

Despite the fact we were closed several days in December, our revenue was still very respectable, coming in a little over $17,000 for the month. Thank you so much to you volunteers who braved snow, cold and time away from family and friends to keep Bizarre Bazaar lighted and open. What a group!

We invite those of you who haven’t volunteered in a while to stop in and spend some time with us. It is fun and a chance to see some old friends or make some new ones. There is always something to do and the 3 hours pass so quickly. When it comes time to share our largesse in the form of grants and scholarships, you can say you were a big part of it!

A few housekeeping items...

There are some new things coming! Already new lighting and a door to the Christmas area has been installed. Thank you, Dave Hussey (Marilyn Haddad’s husband) and Tom Zinn (President Linda’s husband) for donating their time to install these items. Shelving and some new plastic totes will be seen soon in the stock room and the Christmas area as well. A word here - the totes currently in the stockroom are labeled. If you put anything in these totes, please read the labels. I just went through “Women’s shorts” and found jeans and sweat suits. When items are placed in labeled totes, they are usually closed and then stored until the appropriate season. If jeans or sweat suits are in shorts and the box is not opened until summer, we may have missed the selling season for that item. We are trying to make it easy for you! Help! The only summer items that are not hung are shorts and short sleeve Tees. Everything else goes on hangers. And please, no pants or shorts with pleats! They do not sell.

We are getting low on winter items & what is in the stockroom must last through 5 more weeks. The floor may be a little “light”, but please do not pull out of back stock. The rule of merchandising is to be able to put new things out every week. We have regular customers who come in weekly and we need to delight them with new items.

The “Member’s Only” shelves are getting full. You might want to check it out and see if you have anything precious there. We will be tossing or selling items on the shelves at the end of January.

Team leaders, next month will be our semi-annual team leader meeting. We will soon publicize the date and time - all team leaders are strongly encouraged to attend! Anyone interested in becoming a team leader is also welcome.

And one last word to the closing teams - please double check that the front door is locked! We recently had a situation where the shop was closed, but since the front door was unlocked, some customers came in. Fortunately, a member showed up and graciously escorted them out and locked the door. Now that might have become a rather exciting experience! Please, be mindful of the closing procedures! (And see how feverish customers are to come shop at Bizarre Bazaar?)
