2017 Grant Recipients
Presentation at May General Meeting

Dear CAL Members,

Our CAL Dollars Make a Difference - feedback from some of our Grant Recipients:

Priest Lake Food Bank:
“Our freezer was installed last week. It’s easier to get stuff out of and it’ll hold more supplies for our clients. Also, our power bill will go down since it’s energy saver.”

Bonner County Museum:
“CAL graciously awarded a grant to purchase props for our newest exhibit ONCE UPON A TIME IN BONNER CO. It’s been well-received and has helped us expand our membership which has been our continuing goal."

Northside Elementary:
"We purchased new recess equipment with a grant from CAL. Our students want to thank you so much for all you do for our community.”

Bonner Soil and Water Conservation District:
“We are grateful for the generous grant from CAL which helped make the Pend Oreille Water Festival possible on May 18  & 19 of this year. 440 fifth grade students participated in this comprehensive, environmental education program.”  Note: Programs include Fur Trapping Era, Watershed,
Looking for Water Bugs, Water Quality, Animal Tracks and Orienteering.

Bulldog Finance Fair:
This was the first year that STCU, who writes this curriculum, included a CHARITABLE GIVING station.  Because of our generous support over the years, CAL was asked to participate and  ‘man’ that station.  CAL members counseled 275 high school seniors helping them make choices for their charitable giving. The photos are our 'team' for the day.

Bonner County Fair and Rodeo:
“CAL thank you for the grant for the Pre Fair.  Over 1300 students attended the 2 day event (May 25 and 26). Your grant made this possible."

One final request to all CAL members:

We recently received an invitation for a private tour of the newest exhibit at the local museum… one which we helped to fund - ONCE UPON A TIME IN BONNER COUNTY. Heather Upton, the curator, is willing to make herself available for the tour between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on successive Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the month of November. Please stay tuned for the date and time which will be made available through the CAL website and by email. We hope you will join in the fun.
