As most of you know, I woke up Tuesday morning to phone calls and text messages saying that the conference room had been double booked for our Wednesday meeting. My first thought was, “How could they do that?” followed by “Where can I put 100 women tomorrow morning?”. Luckily, Tango made quick arrangements and we had our meeting in the community room. I must admit that I really liked the camaraderie of everyone sitting at round tables. I would almost prefer to meet there except that we have to be out no later than 11:00 a.m. so Tango can set up for the Rotary lunch. Between the business meeting and the speaker, the time constraint would often be impossible.

A whole passel of my friends are 'Pisces' so March is a very busy month. One of my nearest and dearest turns 70. She doesn’t know it, but about 12 of us are flying in to Portland on March 4 from all over the country to surprise her. I’m currently working on putting together a PowerPoint slide presentation. It is taking way too long to do, but it is nice to remember how good-looking we all were 40 and 50 years ago. Time, sunshine, and gravity are a powerful combination. A couple of weeks later three of us are going to New Orleans to celebrate my birthday. I’ve never been there and I’m really looking forward to seeing what all the hoopla is about.

I heard from our own Loris Michael today and learned how dire the finances are at the Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc. (SASi). They are thrilled to be the named recipients of the money we raise at our spring luncheon in April. They aren’t just sitting around hoping for money to come in. They have several fund-raising events planned over the next 3 months. I am putting this information out so that our members might make a note of the dates and help out the seniors by their attendance. They are having a craft fair on Friday, March 18, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 19, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. And for those of you who like to hang out with friends at the Pend d’Oreille Winery try to go on Tuesday, March 8, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., where you can enjoy nice music, wine and benefit the Daybreak Center at the same time.

March is also when grant and scholarship applications are going out. Just be aware that you may be asked for information or applications when you are working at BizBaz. Diane Arrants (Grants) and Sherry Ennis (Scholarships) have put whatever you need plainly marked near the register. Here we go, its time to give away the proceeds of thousands of hours of volunteer time. Seeing what we can do for the community brings tears to my eyes. Bless you all.

I love listening to Foster Cline. I think his next book should be about his own wit and wisdom. I thought I had my estate pretty well organized, but I now feel like I am operating in the paper and pencil era. I’m going to have to rethink things for my executors. I was sitting near the front while Foster was speaking. One of my favorite things was watching Hermie be cracked up by her own husband. Apparently, even after decades of marriage he can say things that tickle her. It was great to watch.

Because so many of you have been asking, I want to let you know that Cooper is doing fine after being attacked by 3 labs. He is acting normally except for the lampshade that he has to wear so he won’t lick his open wounds. He should be back at his part-time job as store greeter soon. Please don’t tell him that his butt has been shaved though. Getting beat-up and then wearing a lampshade is about all his ego can endure.

Blessings on all of you,
Sherry
