Dear Volunteers,

Wow! Another great month. Thanks to all of you who helped make it happen. Without your help, Bizarre Bazaar would not be the great little “hidden treasure” it is.

Another big thanks to pricers who use the pricing book. Jamie Erdt saw a need and created a wonderful tool for us to use. She updates the book once a month, so if you find labels not listed in the book, please write them down for her to add. It makes our pricing more consistent and less confusing for our customers.

It seems confusion still reigns on how to properly fill out a clothing price tag.

  • Use only black or blue ink.
  • Write only on the top half. (The bottom part is used when we mark items down.) Include size and price. Use a $ in front of the price. If the item marked is a set, note if it is 2 piece or 3 piece. Write legibly.
  • Do not scribble out a price and write another one – retag the item.
  • Use only the color tag for the current month. Place tag only in a left-hand underarm seam (for tops, dresses, sweaters, vests, coats, jackets – delicate or heavy items can be tagged in the neck label). Place tag in left seam at waistband for skirts and pants. See? Easy! There is also a sample tag hanging at the pricing table.
  • All items need a price tag or sticker! (This includes scarves.) The only exceptions are books, CDs, DVDs and video tapes.
  • If item is a large or expensive item, clean it and place on the floor (space provided) with a card that states the item is new and in the process of being priced. If a customer expresses interest in the item before it is priced, please note their name and number so we can call them once pricing has been done.

“Hold” and “Sold” tags MUST be filled out with customer name and number and your name and number and need to be dated. Holds are only for 48 hours. Sold items left for later pick up need the expected date of pickup and an indication the item has been paid for. No post-its please! When a customer needs to pick the item up later, remind them to bring some help. You might recommend “Sandpoint Movers” or “We Haul”. We may not have a volunteer handy to help them load the item. Your safety is paramount!

We have a new instruction sheet for issuing and redeeming Gift Certificates in the Gift Certificate folder. Hopefully it will make your job easier! Most important to remember is to log the number of the Certificate and to NOT run it through the register until the Certificate is redeemed.

Sounds like a lot of rules, but they really are mostly common-sense and help things run smoothly. Thank you!

Please sign up for a shift! We need volunteers to work. There is always something to do and we love seeing your shining faces.

October, November & December calendars are available online now!
