Dear Volunteers,

Enough with the rain! The upside to so much wet gloom is that folks decide to go shopping instead of playing outside – and that is a good thing for us.

The wacky weather, however, did not deter the focused ladies who rushed in to sweep up the great garden goods in our annual Garden Center. Dixie Stansell, Judy Dabrowski and their team did such a wonderful job creating this year’s extravaganza and it was almost completely wiped out by the end of the week. Thank you to all who donated items and helped make the Garden Center a huge success.

Merchandise is going out the front door in volumes. Donations are coming in the back door in volumes. We need volumes of assistance from you, dear volunteers. As I pointed out in my email last weekend, in May alone we sold over 3,900 pieces of stock. Help! We are drowning in the goodness and generosity of our community. Please sign up and join us.

Amid this, we have lost a couple of team leaders. If you are interested in becoming a team leader, please contact Cherie, Bobbie or Donna and set up an interview. We know you are out there.

 ** Important Notes **
  • We are stuffed to the rafters with clothing, but need linens, crafts, jewelry, décor and household goods. Pass the word, please! The great items we are receiving are being sold almost as soon as they go on the floor.

  • The Art Sale has been a such a success that we will continue it at least through the end of June. Many thanks to Sherry Ennis and Carol Visger for making it happen.

  • This is the season for summer clothes – in theory, Summer officially starts this week. Please, despite the weather, put out only summer items. We have a lot of back stock of summer clothing to get through in the next few weeks and should not put out heavy fall or winter things. A reminder that all basic tanks and shorts are $3.00 and all basic short sleeve Tee’s and crops are $4.00. Our $5.00 rack of inexpensive sundresses has proved to be popular so we will leave it in place for a little while longer.

Through the generosity of one of our volunteers, we now have another cordless screwdriver/drill. PLEASE, when you use this handy tool, return it to its place on the table, under the mirror, near the books. There is a plastic container to hold the pieces. Keep them together!

Bizarre Bazaar, as a resale store, is in a great and unique position in this soaring inflationary economy. People like to shop but find the lack of merchandise and the cost in full retail stores getting harder to deal with. The gently used, upscale items we offer, at such incredible prices, are drawing more of the public through our doors. We have not raised our prices on many items (unlike a few of our competitors), so our customers are receiving great value for their money. Even our higher end merchandise is selling very well.

As volunteers, it is a great honor to not only provide a wonderful shopping experience for our customers, but also be able to provide, through grants and scholarships, help to the Bonner community and scholars. We hope to see you on Monday, June 20th, at the "Celebration of Giving" and see what the work you put in at Bizarre Bazaar does to affect the community in such a positive way.
