BIZARRE BAZAAR SPRING NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

‘Tis the season for garage sales and a BIG shout out to every one of you great volunteers who have shared your time with Bizarre Bazaar to help sort, clean, press, price and get the goods out! Wow! And just about as fast as it goes on the floor, it goes out the door. You are all appreciated so much!! Three hours (or more or less) of hard work, but also giggles with your colleagues, stories shared and a tremendous amount of fun. If you haven’t joined in, don’t pass up a great opportunity to not only help, but spend the time with some great ladies (and a gentleman!).

If you really want to make an even bigger impact, we are looking for one or two team leaders to fill the Monday of week three (both AM and PM) slot. The stalwart Elaine Linscott, who has been such a great leader for several years, has decided it is time to pass on the baton and give other volunteers the opportunity. For those of you are new to BB, the position isn’t really all that hard and it is a good way to really get to know the shop. Please submit resumes…oh, heck, just call or email either Diane or Cherie!

And now for this week’s Wisdom Words-----courtesy of Dixie Stansell and Judy Bourassa, grand pooh-bahs of TMYT (Team Move Your Treasures). This team consists of members, spouses or any agreeable person with an SUV or pickup who will pick up donations, be they remnants of garage sales or estate leavings. However, please keep in mind a few things if you are on the hunt:

  1. Items must meet our “Be Ruthless” standards (thank you Joyce!) i.e. be sale-able.
  2. TMYT will pick up, but not clean.
  3. Leave a Bizarre Bazaar card with Dixie’s name on the back. The donor can call the store, ask for Dixie’s number and call her for pickup.
  4. Keep in mind, we certainly don’t mind if the donor brings in the leftovers on their own.
  5. We are always looking for good furniture and unusual items.
  6. Remind possible donors that we will provide them with a tax deductible receipt and what the proceeds from our sales supports…grants and scholarships!
  7. Items we cannot accept: mattresses, high chairs or other child items that can pose a hazard, non-functioning or outdated electronics, electric blankets, plastic kitchen items…you get the idea…we do have limited liability.
You are so very appreciated for all you do! Thank you!

Cherie Warber and Diane Arrants
