BIZARRE BAZAAR SUMMER NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

You all are so amazing! We keep getting huge donations, and you keep processing it all, getting it to the floor and out the door it goes. Our sales are incredible and it is all due to each and every one of you who manage to give us a couple of hours a day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Last Saturday was our Big Blow Out Book Sale. We had been fortunate to be gifted with two libraries worth of almost new books, so Robert and Sue Vogelsinger organized them and got them onto the floor. That morning we had people waiting outside the door for us to open! It was a successful day, lots of books were sold and the store practically vibrated with the energy going on. (See what fun you miss by not volunteering?)

Mini training camps will be available for new members or anyone who would like to brush up on cash register skills on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Please let Diane or Cherie know if you plan on attending.

A few little housekeeping hints now…..

Cashiers and team leaders please be aware of a slight change to the cash register. After you hit subtotal, all you have to do is hit the BIG CA key….no more trying to decide if you need to hit cash, charge or check. Just one key does it all! Easy as pie.

Oops receipts. Hey, we all have oops days. Just write oops on the top of the receipt and place it in the check slot. End of story! No name, no explanations, just oops. Easy!

Gift Certificates. We do very few of these, so it really is important to follow a few steps, most importantly getting out the instruction sheet placed with the certificates under the counter. Read. Follow steps. Wow, now that was easy! Please remember a few things: Log the certificate, including the number on the sheet provided. When the certificate is redeemed, write the amount used on the back of the certificate so there is a running total. NEVER pay out any difference to the customer in cash. They have to redeem the certificate with purchases. Write “gift certificate” on the receipt and place in the check slot. A lot of small steps, but easy!

Afternoon shift…..please empty waste cans, make sure clothes from fitting rooms are returned to the floor and please, please PLEASE check that the steamer and iron are off. We recently had an incident where the steamer was not turned off on Saturday and was found on Monday. Yikes!

Hey it’s getting to be summer, so enough! Get out there, (and don’t forget to march on the 4th!), have fun, but don’t forget to sign up or drop in at Bizarre Bazaar! We need you!

In appreciation for all you do,
Cherie Warber and Diane Arrants
