BIZARRE BAZAAR FALL NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

It may be only the beginning of September, but haven’t you already felt fall in the air? I see leaves starting to drift by my window and I know the interminable winters of the Northwest are on their way. Hopefully slowly on their way! I can only cross my fingers that we will still have some wonderful Indian summer days to enjoy.

Fall has definitely arrived at Bizarre Bazaar. Beautiful colors, beautiful fabrics and a multitude of beautiful leaves! If nothing else, you must drop by to admire the handiwork of Judy Dabrowski and Rose Chaney (with the assistance of Judy Ahrends), artistes extraordinaire, in recreating the beauty of a Northwest Fall within the confines of our own little shop. The word “Glorious” barely starts to describe it!

All of that means, of course that summer clothes are in no uncertain words passe. Out. In storage. If any summer items come in, please hang (except fold shorts to store in tub near sorting area). It’s a little early for heavy winter, so just hang items and place on fall rack.

The ladies on the Children’s team have been inundated with items. Let’s help them out a bit when sorting. Toys and books must be clean, complete, practically like new. Pass on games as it is difficult to ascertain if all the pieces are there. And the clothes. Lynnie B has an arrangement to get new children’s clothes and has so many that she has requested we pass on all incoming children’s clothes unless it is a coat, is brand new or is awesomely darling. There is just not enough room for everything and we can pass on all incoming clothes to others who need them.

There is a gala event (black tie) scheduled for October 1st and we have already seen men and women coming in to find appropriate attire. Please advise them that tuxedos and shirts are upstairs in men’s and lovely evening attire for women is available in the back room. I will make the dresses more available on Monday on a rolling rack along with evening bags and shoes. Let’s get Sandpoint dressed for a wonderful night out!

On another note, there may be gentlemen coming in in the near future looking for suits. There are some upstairs, but also quite a few in the back. Please be your usual helpful selves with these fellows. We are trying a reach out to the Mormon community who always need suits, something we have a lot of!

If you sign up for a shift and cannot make it, please let your team leader know. She is counting on you and may need to find someone to replace you. It is a courtesy to her and your fellow team members to give them a heads up. We have had a couple of experiences where someone crossed their name off the roster and the team leader was alone. Please, be considerate!

And one more time, if someone presents a gift certificate and does not buy enough to cash it out, they can run a tab (see back of certificate) or donate the balance to CAL. There is no cash back on gift certificates. There seems to be a little confusion on this, so I hope we have cleared it up. Please ask your team leader for help if you have any confusion!

September is the beginning of our social year and this month is our first general meeting. We get a lot of new members during this fall transition. So open up your arms and welcome them to CAL and to the magic that is Bizarre Bazaar! Together we make that magic happen.

In appreciation for all you do,
Cherie Warber and Diane Arrants
