Dear CAL Members,

We were able to give out $112,500 in grants for 2018. One of our grantees has a special "Thank You" for CAL. The Bonner County Historical Museum has invited interested members for a private tour of the newest exhibit. The CAL Grant Committee funded another of their grant requests this past year, this time for some display cabinetry. As it turns out, these display cabinets figure prominently in the latest exhibit: WUNDERKAMMER, Curio Cabinet. Heather Upton, the museum’s curator puts it this way:

“My inspiration for the new exhibit was a Cabinet of Curiosities from the 15th century. This concept was truly the precursor to the modern day museum. There are some VERY unexpected objects featured.“

Heather is available for this tour on Tuesday, October 2, and on Wednesday, October 10, between 10:00 a.m. and noon. There will be a sign up sheet at the September general meeting on the 19th. Please add your name if you’d like to attend. Space is limited to 25 people per group. If we fill the available slots, we can add extra days. The exact time of the tour is yet to be determined, but will be between 10:00 a.m. and noon - perfect timing for lunch with your friends afterward.

Last year the Grant Committee also funded a request from the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. They have asked to share a very important and touching story of how our grant money has impacted children in our community. I hope you can make it to the meeting to share in some of the joy CAL spreads throughout Bonner County.
