2018 Scholarship Recipients 
Dear Members,
It’s a lovely summer day and it seems an appropriate time to thank Linda Zinn, who has led CAL through the last two years with her sunny personality, spirit and grit. I wish her a wonderful “retirement" and a summer filled with grandchildren, the lake and fun. I know that she will continue to be a busy presence in CAL.
As I embark on my own adventure as CAL’s president, I want to thank the membership for having confidence in me. I will, with a talented and enthusiastic Board, do my best to guide CAL through the unknown waters of the next two years. There are changes upon the horizon, and I am confident that we will embrace them with the usual CAL sense of adventure!
And Thank You to the members that were at our June Meeting. We chose 29 recipients for scholarships and heard from those that could attend, about their exciting plans for school and careers. We wish them the best on the start of their college education!
I would like to thank the committee members who read all of the applications (80+) and made the difficult decisions. They were Mary Daubersmith, Joyce Price, Marilyn Haddad, Carol Visger, Beth Drain, Lilly Mitsui, Eileen Simon and Penny Schardt. Thank you also to Linda Melia, who has helped with the process and will be taking over as Scholarship Chair next year.
In the meantime, have a wonderful summer, and I’ll see you on the 4th of July to celebrate Our Home of the Free and the Brave!
