If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.

We have had such a beautiful spring this year that I can’t believe it isn’t mid-June. I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow so I am stuck at home for obvious reasons and I am starving so there may not be much humor in this note. Right now I am watching a pair of gold finches at my bird feeder eating sunflower seeds and I am tempted to join them.

I was reminded last week of how lucky we are as a small town to have so many cultural opportunities. The Panida theater just gets better and better. Last week and this weekend they are the only theater in Idaho to open the new movie “Papa” about Hemingway’s time in Cuba. It was a really good movie. As you may have surmised I’m a bit of a movie freak. Everyone in the movie was drinking daiquiris which made Cindy, Joyce, Sally Lowry, and I crave one. We headed across the street to Ivano’s where had the best ones ever (I sound like Cindy) and split a large antipasto platter for dinner. It was a perfect girls night out.

I was speaking to Deanne, our landlord yesterday. She had just been in the store that day and enthusiastically described how beautiful and friendly the atmosphere is in there. Good job, CAL comrades. I have noticed how tidy the back room is. Every time I am in the store Cherie Warber and Diane Arrants are running around arranging things.

I was so sorry to have missed the team leader tea at Diane’s. I heard wonderful things about it. Unfortunately had tickets to Johnnie Mathis that had been purchased months prior. You will be happy to know that at 80 his voice is still good and he is surrounded by an incredible group of musicians. I was a bit dubious about his abilities at this point, but needn’t have been.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. As a childless woman, I can only look on in wonder at what a monumental job that is. I hope you feel treasured on Sunday and every other day.

Yours,
Sherry
