PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Members,
In the reflecting back on the past 23 months of COVID, I see a terrific group of women who successfully navigated the organization towards is mission of serving the community. When I try to remember the route that was taken all I see is a long path with twists, turns, and backtracking but continuously was on target. Think about it, CAL has accomplished so much in the chaos:
- Bizarre Bazaar Sales are way up, even with Cherie being out and Diane prematurely leaving us. Thank you to the army of women who worked where and how they were comfortable to keep the store going.
- Grants and Scholarships were given on schedule. Thank you to the committee members who got the work done even though they could not meet face-to-face.
- When it was comfortable, we were able to have meetings and social events that were/are well attended. Thank you to everyone’s patience and cooperation with ever-changing venues and days.
- Maintained focus on the mission of helping the community. CAL gave emergency grants in spring 2020, helped with the Healing Garden, kept the Blankie program going, continued with Kinderhaven trees, and were extremely generous with the Senior Giving Project. Thank you to those of you who had the pleasure of working on these programs.
I believe CAL’s founding women would be proud of us as we have maintained the CAL “can do” attitude and DID accomplish what we set out to do.
