PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
|
Dear Members,
Oh, what a wild ride we are experiencing with this pre-spring weather. Hang on tight until Mother Nature decides she is finished with the white stuff!.
For those of you who were able to attend our General Membership meeting on March 19, we were treated to delicious cookies, courtesy of Linda Zinn and Jamie Erdt. If you are not familiar with Jamie’s beautiful cookie creations, she has provided cookies to sell at Bizarre Bazaar (which sell out very quickly!), and has made decorated cookies for several of our members.
Please take time to thank our managers for their leadership and dedication, along with our department heads and all of the volunteers who continue to keep the store humming. After all, this is our bread and butter.
Our Treasurer, Beth Drain, announced we will be awarding $200,000 in grants and scholarships this year. I am so proud that we found a way to give so much back to the community again this year. See the Treasurer’s message for more details.
Our guest speaker for the March general meeting was “Alone” runner-up Karie Lee Knoke. Karie Lee is a dynamic speaker and shared her experiences, as well as video, from the show. In addition, she detailed her current ventures with the Sacred Cedars Wilderness School and the Survival Sisterhood program. As someone who watched Karie Lee on the program, I was intrigued to hear the details.
Mark your calendars for the April 16 general meeting, where we will have another fantastic speaker, Rachel Jeffs. She will talk about her upbringing and her book, “Breaking Free: How I Escaped Polygamy, the FLDS Cult, and My Father, Warren Jeffs”.
I encourage you to mark your calendars to attend our monthly General Meetings in 2025, held each third Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Our future speakers and upcoming activities are listed on our Homepage: Community Assistance League of Sandpoint.

Please don’t forget about the “Lady Bug” spring luncheon on April 30. See Linda Zinn’s message under the social committee for details about this wonderful event. At the luncheon, there will also be raffle activities and opportunities to contribution to local causes.
Would you like to help more at CAL, but aren’t sure how? Please reach out to a team leader, store manager, or any board member to find out about myriad possibilities to help out. We would love to tap into your talents!
Your trivia for the month: Did you know that CAL is celebrating its 46th anniversary this year! How would you like to celebrate?
Thank you all, for your contributions to Community Assistance League. You DO make a difference.
