Dear Members,

As your incoming Vice President, thank you very much for putting your faith in me. As my first act as VP, I thought I would bring to your attention two of CAL's projects this year, one a continuing project and the other one from the past, that we would like to reinstate.

Continuing Project

We are continuing our Healing Garden Project. Marianne Jeffers is in dire need of help at the Garden as it is so important to the community as well as, of course, their patients. It is looking wonderful already but needs continuing TLC. Every Wednesday will be designated as the CAL Work Party day. Grab a friend, your gardening tools, and head to the Garden. Social distancing will be no problem. Perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, hopefully, and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow members. Signups are not necessary. Just show up for whatever amount of time you can give. All volunteers are welcome. Helen Tapp has agreed to help with this project. Please feel free to contact Helen or me.

New Project

The second project is the reinstatement of the High School Mentor Program. We were approached by Wendy Auld from Sandpoint High School asking if we would restart this program. She has several students very interested in finding places to volunteer for the hours required to satisfy their Honor Society requirements. What better place than Bizarre Bazaar? Several members have volunteered to mentor these young people. I was available to work with the first student, Ellen. What a wonderful, enthusiastic worker she turned out to be. Thanks to Ellen and other students who step up to help out. It's nice to see young people in the store and we thank Wendy for reaching out to CAL.

As we move into the coming year with our "new normal", please feel free to contact me regarding any ideas you may have. I look forward to getting to know everyone better.
