Special Project
Senior Gift Giving Program

Dear Members,

I think this may be the 15th anniversary of Community Assistance League’s commitment to share the Christmas spirit with our most elderly citizens. Through the generosity of our members we have provided beautiful packages this year to Bonner County recipients of Meals-on-Wheels. Many of these men and women have little access to other people and are often forgotten during the holidays. This year you wonderful women provided over 70 gifts to people who might otherwise be unacknowledged during the holidays.

SASi (Sandpoint Area Seniors) are equal partners with us by making sure our gift bags reach the recipients as meals are delivered in the last week before Christmas. For the staff at SASi our Christmas project has become a highlight for them. They are the ones who see the joy and wonderment on their client's faces. I hear from SASi how much our program means to shut-in seniors, and how gratifying it is for SASi staff to experience the gratitude. I want to pass those verbal kudos to all of you who actually, shopped, wrapped, and delivered your gifts on time.

This year I am especially grateful for those who stepped in to dig me out of a hole. I left the country for most of the month of November without a thought for this program, and then came home sick. I want to thank Marnie Easly, Cherie Warber (who has nothing else to do), and Jan Harrison for stepping into the breach and "gettin' 'er done" as we volunteers always do. And to those of you who provided 70 gifts this year, BRAVO!
