5th Annual
"
Paws with a Cause"
Was a Success!

Dear Members,

CAL’s Paws for a Cause just keeps getting bigger! A sunny day brought a crowd of happy dogs and their owners to the Dover walk on June 3. There were kerchiefs and “pupcakes” for the dogs and great silent auction and raffle items for the humans. Tiny Dalmatian toys hidden along the trail added an extra element of fun to the walk; if you found a Dalmatian, your canine buddy went home with a dog toy. The generosity of the community was astonishing, and this year the event brought in $4,000 for Community Cancer Services.

Thanks go out to the committee, the CAL members who donated an astounding number of dog-related items and the Sandpoint business community for its generosity in sponsoring “watering holes” and donating gift certificates for the silent auction.

Pictures of the day are in a new album available on the website in the Member Photo Albums (Select from the Menu Bar), from the link in the current bulletin or using this link: CAL's 2017 Dog Walk (requires a login).

The Fourth of July parade is our next big event. This year’s Lion’s Club theme is “All About Service”. Since that is what CAL does, we will be able to celebrate our accomplishments along with America’s Independence. I will be asking for volunteers to decorate our float and to march in the parade at the next general meeting. I want to encourage everyone to come out and march. It’s fun, isn’t a long walk and doesn’t take much time. If you have family or friends visiting, bring them along to the parade. What could be better than having your own cheering section? A large group of marching CAL members is impressive, and we ARE impressive, so have a morning walk and celebrate the day!
