NOVEMBER NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

By the time most of you read this, Bizarre Bazaar will be in the process of being magically morphed into a winter wonderland! This Sunday, the 11th at 9:30 a.m. is the day for the Christmas Transformation. I am excited to see just how beautiful it turns out. Each year is stupendous, but each year is different and fun to see. Many thanks to Judy Dabrowski, Rose Chaney, Virginia Chavez and all the others who prepare endlessly to help make this happen. If you read this before the transformation is complete, please stop by and add your creativity to the mix! It's potluck, so bring something to share!

Next week will be insane so we implore those of you with some extra time to show up and help. Monday morning will be crazy with the community lining up at the door before opening to get the best deals on the new Christmas decorations. As the word gets out, other customers will be headed our way to snap up the lovely goodies, so we need everyone on deck! Diane, I and your team leaders will appreciate it tremendously.

Due to the date change of our general meeting (this Wednesday, November 14th) there is a slight schedule change. We will NOT be open in the morning, so if you were originally scheduled to work, you do not need to show up at the store (but we hope to see you at the meeting!). We WILL be open Wednesday, November 21st, all day, so your team leaders will be looking for some help.

Also, please keep in mind we will be closed both Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd, reopening Saturday, November 24th.

"Mingle and Jingle Time"
Friday, November 16th, at 4:01 p.m. is the annual
"After Hours Christmas Party" at Bizarre Bazaar.

Please come (alone, with a spouse or significant other, friend) and
join us in ushering in this year’s Holiday season.

There will be hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and
the unveiling of our beautiful Christmas clothing line.

New members…..there is one more training opportunity this coming Tuesday, November 20th, 9:00 a.m. at Bizarre Bazaar.

Markdowns have been moved up to Monday afternoon November 19th, and Thursday morning November 20th.

And, as always, a few “housekeeping" items:

  • The new doorbell is installed at the back door (thank you, Tom Zinn!). If you do not have enough staffing and want to lock the back door, this bell will alert you to anyone at the door.
  • Please, please pick up trash bits from the floor as they can clog the vacuums. Our cleaning woman tries to pick things up but can’t always see everything.
  • There have been several comments from team leaders that their teams are bailing before shifts are ended, (mostly afternoon crews) leaving the team leader to close alone. Closing is more than just walking out the door and locking it – it entails making sure the go-backs are returned, the lights are all shut off, the trash is empty, pricing tables are cleared, all doors are locked, and the register is closed. Please help your team leaders out. This also becomes a personal safety issue as it gets darker earlier.
  • Tis the season for woolens and some of our lovely sweaters and coats have been nibbled on by pesky moths. Let’s keep an eye out for unsightly moth holes as these items are being prepped for sale.
  • Clothing price tags – write ONLY on the top half, use blue or black ink, put a $ sign in front of the price tags and insert tags only in right-hand side seams or neck tags (on delicate or heavy items). And please remember that all clothing items and accessories need to be priced individually.

You are all doing an amazing job! Our sales continue to surpass all records, ensuring that we will be able to do more to help the Bonner Community this coming year. What an exciting thought - thank you so much for your dedication in upholding the Community Assistance League’s Mission Statement!

In appreciation for all you do,
Diane and Cherie
