Dear Members,

As we approach the holidays, the days turn colder, and the snow flies, we CAL members normally start thinking about our social events, decorating the store and our homes, planning our family holiday meals, and holiday parties. Unfortunately, COVID has thrown us a curve and most of these things have had to be canceled or cut back. We’ve had to make many changes and adjusted the way we operate the store. We’ve also been unable to have our general meetings and the board meets virtually via Zoom. The board continues to discuss the issues before us and how best to proceed in light of these changing times. Since we aren’t able to meet in person, please don’t hesitate to contact your board members with comments and ideas. We are very interested in hearing from our members. We also continue our search for a meeting venue that will allow us to comply with social distancing protocols while at the same time being able to see our friends and conduct the organization’s business.

Kinderhaven Tree 2019

Kinderhaven has altered the Festival of Trees event this year. In light of these changes, CAL and Julia Kern, our Kinderhaven guru, has planned a much smaller tree and trimmings this year.

CAL is partnering with Sandpoint Furniture, the host of our tree, to present “Cozy Up...”.

We will be sending a message to the membership to let you know how you can contribute and what the idea entails and what our timeline is.

Please remember that there are many ways to volunteer for CAL. Our local babies still need blankies. The Healing Garden has been put to bed for the winter, but come spring will need many volunteers to bring it back to its budding glory. Bizarre Bazaar continues to need volunteers and welcomes any help you can provide before, during, and after store hours in whatever way you are most comfortable.

I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and hope to see you all soon wherever we meet: BB, the grocery, the Kinderhaven Festival of Trees, the Tree Lighting, or the coffee shop. Stay well. We will persevere and fulfill our mission to give back to our community through our grants and scholarships. 🎄☃️🍾

Regards and Happy Holidays,
