FRIENDSHIP, FELLOWSHIP & COMMUNITY

Dear Members,

The New Year 2022 has gotten off to a great start. In my role as Vice President, I spearheaded an effort to set in place policies for Community Assistance League that cover compliance with the IRS guidelines governing 501(c)(3) organizations such as ours. Thanks to the help of Jan Harrison, we have compiled these policies and taken them to our Board of Directors for discussion and approval. I am glad to announce that our mission has been completed, and the Policy document will soon be posted on the web site. Compliance with these policies falls under the auspices of the Vice President and will be monitored on an annual basis. Hopefully you will all review these policies and be aware of our responsibilities as members and volunteers.

I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Barbee Buchanan for spearheading CAL’s Kinderhaven Tree last year; Mary Sturgis for coordinating the Blankie project, Helen Tapp for her work at the Healing Garden - spring is coming - and Sherry Fulton for the outstanding Senior Giving project. These are all wonderful and extremely fulfilling community projects and would not be possible without the volunteer spirit of our members and volunteers. Thank you for your generosity.

What a joyous season. It’s been a privilege to be a part of Community Assistance League and all the wonderful things we do for our community, but nothing has been a greater gift than the friendships we all have as a sisterhood. What a wonderful organization we have. The enthusiasm of the volunteers in the store is inspiring. Thank you all for such dedication to our mission. There’s nothing like the wonder in children’s faces at Christmas.

Happy 2022 and I am looking forward to another great year.
