BIZARRE BAZAAR
NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

It may still be only February, but Spring is on the way! If you are like a lot of Northwesterners, you are already thinking ahead and planning what flowers and other plantings will grace your gardens.

As Bizarre Bazaar begins its winter molt, the lovely colors of early Spring are starting to emerge from amongst the darks of the past season. Starting with next week’s markdowns, you will begin to see the soft pastels and greens that herald the coming of the earth’s reawakening.

Let us start packing up winter sweaters, long underwear, snow boots and anything else that reminds us of winter. Our customers are ready for new merchandise and a new look and we have the means to excite and please them.

With that being said, a few tips follow for sorters and pricers:

These items should be placed in tubs:
  • Heavy sweaters
  • Turtlenecks
  • Winter scarves, hats and gloves
  • Christmas clothing
  • Skiwear
  • And continue to place in tubs:
  • Tanks
  • Short sleeve T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Spring scarves
Please hang:
  • All dresses
  • All skirts
  • All pants, crops and jeans
  • All long or ¾ length sleeves t-shirts
  • All long or short sleeve button downs
By putting these items in the appropriate places, we not only make it easier to store them, but also be able to find them if the need arises.

Big kudos to our volunteers who continue to observe where merchandise is placed in the shop! The front window looks amazing from the outside (not to mention inside as well!) with beautiful colored glassware and pottery. The baker’s rack sparkles with glass and crystal arrangements. Thank you, one and all!

As with any seasonal change, we now ask that you keep your winter things at home. However, please start thinking about what springy household goods and clothing you would like to share with Bizarre Bazaar! We are in desperate need of linens, kitchen items, décor and clothing. And we always can use jewelry, books, CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes. Clean out those closets! Declutter! Share your treasures with us and our lovely customers.

Other things of note:
  • Marilyn Haddad reminds you that the black velvet ring boxes are for display only. She has gold ring boxes to use when selling a ring and are under the counter.
  • Do not forget to check coat pockets and purses before passing anything on. A coat with jewelry in the pocket was found in the pass-ons.

February, March & April Volunteer calendars are available online now!

And many thanks to those who work when the store is closed: The pass-on angels, the ironers, sorters, the department heads and all those who toil behind the scenes to keep Bizarre Bazaar fabulous. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In great appreciation for you and for all you do!
