BIZARRE BAZAAR
NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

Anyone want to try out for the local Bizarre Bazaar production of “Frozen”? The ice has been treacherous and big kudos to the brave souls who ventured out to keep our shop open. Sales were understandably slow, but the warmth and camaraderie inside was contagious. (Notes to volunteers: The parking lot is getting more thawed by the day and the plow man is sanding more vigorously. And the walk to the side parking lot and the dumpster is now clear.)

Many thanks as well to our members who have been bringing in donations! Your generosity has helped tremendously, though, like Oliver Twist, I am begging for “more”.

Here is what we will be looking for this coming month:

  • Two lovely pictures will be going up for silent auction starting January 17th through February 21st. One is Ross Hall’s 1934 photograph of “It’s a Wonderful Life”, a beautiful capture of old downtown Sandpoint in the winter. The other is a delightful, signed poster for the 2002 Sandpoint Winter Carnival by Bonnie Shields. Volunteers are welcome to bid.

  • Valentine’s Day decorations can go out next week. We will also feature lovely lingerie for anyone’s sweetheart as well as the Bridal Boutique.

  • We are still low on season appropriate merchandise. The racks and shelves may look a little light, but that is normal for January and February. Try to fill holes by moving things around.

  • The Unique Boutique, previously located behind the stairs has moved to a new location up front in the Upscale Closet and is under “new management”. Brooke Moore has agreed to take on this project to help Kim Miller out. (When you are returning “go-backs” to the floor, please make sure that Boutique items with their special tags are returned to the Closet area.)

 ** Reminders **
  • If you notice tags, bags, cleaning supplies etc. are getting low, contact Cindy Wanek at 402-929-0035.

  • Please do not direct customers to the bathroom at The Antique Marketplace. If it is a critical situation, customers are welcome to use the volunteer’s bathroom, otherwise direct them to the Columbia Bank Building. The Marketplace management is not happy about our customers using their facilities.

  • Please do not leave open food packages on the back table. If the item is on a plate and it is covered, we’re good, but we do have mice occasionally and we don’t need to encourage them.

  • The fabric used for displays is now in plastic tubs on the shelves by the Christmas room. The tubs are labeled. Please return fabric to the proper bin! (Those mice can turn into tattling rats and turn you in.)

  • And please be aware of what you put up in the Christmas room. Several non-Christmas items have been found stashed up there.

Do you just love posting on Facebook? Do you love spreading positive fun stuff? Would you like to do some advertising about Bizarre Bazaar?

Karen Hanna is looking for a great fellow poster to join her on the administrative team for Bizarre Bazaar’s public Facebook page; writing, photo and Facebook skills are needed.

We need TWO administrators, if you are interested, please contact Karen at 206-979-2446 or at hannakl1@yahoo.com.

We had a fabulous 2021 in sales, thanks to our volunteers who work not only on the sales floor, but to the “behind the scene” ladies who do all the things necessary to run a shop. You are marvelous! We also have our donors and our customers to thank for supporting Bizarre Bazaar. I hope this year, more of you will take the “pledge” to share your time with us.

With great appreciation for you and for all you do!
