BIZARRE BAZAAR
JANUARY NEWS

Dear Volunteers,

What an incredible change in weather! Fairer weather has resulted in higher traffic at Bizarre Bazaar which means more revenue. January and February are generally slow months in both donations and customers, but this month we are doing well. Thanks to all of you volunteers who come in and help. Your dedication makes Bizarre Bazaar so wonderful!

And speaking of wonderful, we have been the recipients of the generosity of Lisa Larson, now retired owner of Pedro’s, a lovely boutique that was on 1st Avenue. Lisa very kindly donated most of her leftover inventory and fixtures to Bizarre Bazaar. There have been many fabulous items for sale on our floor this last week from her shop. We did also receive clothing, but most of that is spring and summer and will not be put out for a few months. Her stock consisted of some expensive things, so we need to be careful about pricing.

This time of year can be confusing as to the clothing we put out on the floor. Keeping in mind our two months at full price, then one month at half price, it is now time to stop putting out heavy winter things. So please start storing heavy coats, ski clothing, heavy sweaters, long underware, turtlenecks and the like. That does not mean we are ready to start with spring (linen, sandals, crops, etc.). We have plenty of “transitional” items to delight our customers. In the next few weeks you will be seeing lighter weight sweaters, rain coats and jackets as well as shirts and long sleeve tees.

Also, to clear up some confusion, we have room to hang everything except crops and shorts. There are bins on the shelves to place crops or shorts.

Finally, a reminder that our bi-annual Team Leader meeting will be Thursday, February 22nd at 9:30 a.m. at Bizarre Bazaar. We are changing the format as we want to encourage a lot of participation and sharing of ideas. Anyone who is interested in becoming a team leader is encouraged to attend as well. There will be some openings available in the coming months for new Team Leaders, so this is a good time to check it out. Please RSVP to either Diane or Cherie as we do like a head count and a light lunch will follow the meeting.

Both Diane and I can not thank you enough for your support and hard work to make Bizarre Bazaar so successful. It is because of you that CAL is able to donate so much to our community. We have just a couple more months to fill those coffers before the grants and scholarships cycles start once again. Please come by and share a few hours of your time so we can make this the best year ever!

In appreciation for all you do,
Diane and Cherie
